Temple Grandin School welcomes inquiries on behalf of any student who might benefit from our program. We are an inclusive community that values each student’s uniqueness, whether or not they have an identified diagnosis. Our staff works closely with the students and families in our program to create an individualized learning plan that helps students attain the social and academic skills they need to develop their talents. We have thoughtfully designed each aspect of our curriculum to meet the unique needs of neurodiverse students; however, we recognize that many types of students may benefit from one or more of our program components, including:
- Personalized learning to support individual passions
- Small classes with experienced, caring teachers
- Challenging academic curriculum
- Integrated social, organizational and behavior support
- Real-world learning experiences
- Sensory processing and self-regulation instruction and support
- Frequent, supportive communication with families to address questions, concerns, and program planning
Admissions Process
We recognize that choosing a specialized school is a significant decision in the life of a student and family, and have designed our admissions experiences to allow ample time for both TGS and the family to assess goodness of fit. At each stage in the process, we provide feedback that we hope will be helpful in guiding your family to a just-right school environment, whether at TGS or elsewhere. To explore opportunities for your student at TGS, please complete our TGS Inquiry Form or contact our admissions director at 303-554-7363.
Our admissions process includes the following steps:
School Tour
Our Admissions Team will schedule a time for you and your student to visit TGS. Visit will include a school tour, time for Q&A, and opportunities to meet with TGS staff members. Students who clearly meet TGS’ admissions criteria will be invited to continue with the application process (see below).
Student Trial Visit
Student attends TGS classes for three full school days. During this time, the student will participate in all components of the TGS socio-academic program, and have opportunities to meet individually with select staff members. TGS’ academic and support teams collect and share observations about the student. Observations include engagement with peers, ability to attend to group instruction, ability to follow school norms/routines, and response to academic work. Students should expect to have one or more short assignments to complete between their first and third visit day.
Decision
TGS notifies the family of the admissions decision. Families of students who are admitted will receive an enrollment packet, including a tuition contract and socio-academic plan (SAP) detailing the student’s TGS program. Contracts must be submitted with the required deposit in order to hold a student’s place at TGS.
